BBC TO COVER FURLONG’S CHILDREN IN NEED TALENT SHOW

The Furlong Centre Festival of Talent in aid of Children in Need which is taking place in Ringwood on October 27 from 10.30a.m to 1.00p.m. (programme of events) is to be recorded in it’s entirety by BBC Radio Solent. Extracts form the show to be broadcast on their Children in Need show on November 16th 7.00p.m. – 10.00p.m.
The show will also be videoed and BBC TV will select one act who will be invited to appear live on television on the Children in Need Day.
Hundreds of young hopefuls swamped the organiser of the event, Furlong publicist Belinda Charlton. She said: "This is the fourth year we have had a big Children in Need event, and it has really taken off. I have never received so many calls, my phone has not stopped ringing. Sadly there are so many applicants, I am unable to accept everyone, but I do hope those who have been unsuccessful this year will try again next year. I have worked on a first come first serve basis so there will be a good cross section of extremely talented youngsters."
The show is running for two and a half hours from 10.30a.m. to 1.00p.m. and will be compeered by BBC Radio Solent presenters Judy Goodlet and Geoff Allen..
"We are showing 27 different acts, which will include classical and popular singing, dancing, instrumentals, and even some martial arts demonstrations. There will be dramatic moments and funny moments and some extremely moving moments. There are about ten stage schools performing but the rest of the acts are ordinary talented youngsters from the area. The event is being held in and around a marquee in the Furlong Centre. Entry is free, but visitors are expected to donate generously any spare cash into the Children in Need buckets. Last year £2,192 was raised by the people of Ringwood at the Furlong Centre events. This year should be better."
Also appearing are the Ringwood Guides music ensemble plus children from local schools. The New Forest Scouts and the Furlong donkeys will be collecting money as will the David Lloyd Health Club who are staging a cyclothon in the Furlong. All the 27 acts will be videoed by Max Greene from Enterprise Video Services in Bournemouth and anyone wanting a copy of the show or any part of it should contact Max on 01202 814552 or speak to him on the day.
